This handmade batik painting features the Great Wall, lying on the top of the mountains. Battlements, the indented "turrets" built against the wall, are important reinforcements for shooting arrows down upon enemies attempting to breach the wall. Soldiers watched the enemies of the Empire in the watchtowers spaced a few feet apart while ancient chariots run on the battleground.
The composition of picture is complete with vivid elements adopting the technique of freehand brushwork from traditional Chinese painting. The natural patterns from the process of wax dyeing add much of the liveliness and uniqueness to the painting.
