Chinese Bronze Sculpture, 'Kirin'
This hand cast Chinese bronze replica features the mythical beast, Kirin, also known as Qilin. In China Kirin is ranked as the second most powerful mythical animal after the dragon. Ancient Chinese identified the giraffe as Kirin after Zheng He brought back two giraffes from his voyage during the Ming Dynasty. Kirin is thought to bring serenity and prosperity.
