This handmade mud sculpture features a Chinese lion (also called foo dogs) with one paw stepping on a ball. The baby lion has a cartoon like smile on its face hence the name “Happy Lion”.  The item is hand cast and hand painted.  The guardian lion is a mythical figure with power for protecting homes.  Long before any Chinese actually seen a real lion, they created the image of lions with descriptions of lions from Buddhist monks.
