2009 Chinese New Year

The 2009 Chinese New Year is the year of ox according to Chinese animal Zodiac. The Chinese zodiac consists of 12 different animals, each representing one year. People always associate the animal characteristics to the people who were born in that year.

So for the people who are born in the Year of the Ox, they are hard-working, loyal, kind and caring.

Here are some excellent products that are Ox related. Perfect for celebrating the Chinese New Year or give it to someone who were born in the year of the Ox.

Celebrate Halloween With a Monkey King Mask

Celebrate 08' Halloween with a paper-mache Monkey King mask. Adult and children sizes are available. Hand painted with Beijing Opera facial makeup patterns.

Monkey King's character might be influenced by a Hindu Monkey god Hanuman and was introduced to China after buddhism is brought to China. In the classic story "Journey to the West", the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, is an all powerful guardian for monk Xuan Zang on the journey to india. Monkey King's strength, 72 magical transformations, and his playful personality has made him one of the most recognizable and well liked characters in Chinese culture.

Beijing Olympic Games finally opened on August 8, 2008 with a grand opening ceremony. The show took viewers on a tour of Chinese culture and inventions. One of the great moments for me is the count down and "Fou" performance at the very beginning of the show. 2008 performers in unison playing the ancient Chinese percussion instrument, Fou. Fou is the earliest Chinese Music Instrument. Normally made with Chinese clay pottery or Chinese Bronze.

The opening ceremony also features Beijing Opera performed by Puppets and the singing of Kun Opera.

Over Fourteen Thousand Dead in Sichuan Provence Earthquake

Nearly 15,000 people died in the devastating earthquake that hit China's Sichuan province, the official Xinhua news agency has reported.

More than 25,000 are still trapped in the rubble two days after the 7.9 quake struck, flattening homes, schools and entire villages and cutting roads.

We are still having trouble contacting two of our artists from the Sichuan Province. Here at Galleria Pangea, we are praying for them and all the other people suffering from the earthquake.

Here are two ways we can donate and help the people in need.
