Taking care of your silver jewelry

Taking care of your Fine Silver (.99 rating) jewelry is not as hard as you think.

First, what's the differences between Fine Silver and Sterling Silver? Fine Silver is the .99 rating silver, the purest form of silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of silver and commonly brass, copper, or nickel. Comparing to sterling silver, Fine Silver is more reflective and shiny (Pure silver has the highest thermal conductivity, whitest color, the highest optical reflectivity). Fine silver does not irritate your skin. Skin irritation and allergic reactions are most often caused by the brass, copper or other metal in Sterling silver.

To keep the silver jewelry from getting tarnished, wear it often. The natural grease from one's body will serve as a protective layer for the silver jewelry. Store properly. Wrap the jewelry piece with tissue paper and store it in a zip lock bag. The silver jewelry can be kept Tarnish free this way for months.

To clean a tarnished silver jewelry piece, you can rub the jewelry piece with a piece of cotton cloth with dish washing soap (not the dish washer kind) or hand wash liquid soap, Rinse with warm water. You can also use tooth paste for heavily tarnished pieces. For hard to clean pieces like earrings or delicate designs, you can place your jewelry piece in a bowl, add a few table spoon of baking soda, then add hot water. Rinse with water and dry the jewelry with a towel afterwards.

If all fails you can always contact us. We can arrange our jewelry maker re-polish your jewelry and get rid of all the scratches and tarnish for a small fee.

Jane:

Thanks for the Info! I was having trouble cleaning my silver dinner ware, and this totally works.

BTW, how much do you charge for cleaning jewelry pieces.

Galleriapangea:

Thanks for the comment. If you bought your silver jewelry from us, the artist agrees to make your piece shine like new for FREE. You just need to pay for the postage to send the item back to you.

If you bought your jewelry pieces from elsewhere, the price depends on the size and design of your silver jewelry. (also make sure it's real silver! fake brass items will turn green or black after the process) Normally its about 10-30 dollars plus postage. Send us a photo first.
