This is a portrait of Emperor Kangxi, painted by royal court painter. Kangxi was the second Qing Dynasty Emperor. He ruled China from 1661 to 1722, and reputed as one of the greatest emperor in Chinese history. He is the father of Emperor Yongzheng. Kangxi also ordered the compiling of the most comprehensive Chinese Dictionary. The dictionary was named after him as the "Kangxi Dictionary".
The painting is done in Gong Bi style, replicated by Cao Xiaohui. Mounted on silk Chinese scroll.
