Chinese Scroll Painting, "Qing Empress"

This painting is the portrait of Qing Dynasty Empress "Xiao XIan". She was the wife of Emperor QIan Long. According to historical records, Empress XIao Xian was a very down to earth and kind woman. She was loved by the imperial court and by her husband. After she died from illness in her late thirties, Emperor Qian Long wrote many poems in remembrance of her.

This painting, replicated by Cao XIaohui, shows the Empress Xiao XIan in her traditional Empress dress. The painting is mounted on a silk Chinese painting scroll.

About the artist, Cao Xiaohui

Cao Xiaohui was born in Henan Province. He started studying classic Chinese painting styles since he was 12 years old. He learned his techniques from studying the ancient classic paintings.
