This art of sculpture is the duplication of ceramic sculpture made in North Wei (A.D.386~A.D.534), presenting a man pulling his horse. The exquisite horse sculpture has thin head showing the unique quality of docility and gorgeousness. The luxury decorations cover the whole horse from the mane to the body. Especially from the gallant blanket under the saddle, we can see that this horse is prepared for a noble woman or an officer.
The man wears vermeil cloth, absinthe-green girdle, feather hat and long trousers with flared lap. This is the typical dress for ancient Chinese nomadic tribes living in the north. The man stands in the front and turns his face to the horse, which the statue gives the dynamic elegance to this static statue. From the way he looks at the horse, you can see the care and love he has for the horse. The artist captures the precise moment that shows the relationship between the horse and the care-taker.
