Pottery Replica, 'Bird Shape Medicine Pot'
This is a handmade and painted bird pot replica of the bird pot made in Han dynasty. Pots shaped like this was used to boil Chinese traditional medicine. The round lid painted with fire pattern covers the opening of the pot. A long handle is set on the body of the pot. There is a decoration in the shape of a bird head with a horn and a small hole on the bird's beak through which boiled medicine was designed to pour.

About the artist, Gao Xiaofei
Luoyang in Henan province is a city with a long history. Luoyang has been the capital for many dynasties through out Chinese history. Gao Xiaofei was born in a village near Luoyang. His family has been trading and repairing antiques for generations. Gao has a special interest in pottery. Inspired by the exquisiteness of the ancient pottery sculptures, he started his workshop replicating the artworks in 1994.
