This pendant is made of ox bone, the embedded medal pieces formed a symbolic face of the Sun God.  The sun god also represents strength, male and the Yang.  On the back of the pendant, an imagery of the sun and several Tibetan characters are embedded. 

The Sun god was worshiped in Bon religion in Tibet.  The Bon religion is a shamanistic religion that was wide spread before the Tibetan Buddhism was introduced to the Tibetan people.
