Tie-dye Square Tablecloth, 'Butterfly and Branch'
This handmade tablecloth is made by Bai ethnic artist. Patterns of butterflies decorated on each corner of table cloth. The wings of the butterfly connect to branches and form a frame for the leaf pattern in the middle of the table cloth. The leaves joining together forms a Chinese coin-shape pattern. Butterfly stands for beauty and love; the coin means fortune. Combining with the two types of pattern, this table cloth represents great glorious life.

“Tie-dye is a part of life here. Girls had to learn tie-dye as an important marital skill. Nowadays young people care less about tie-dye. Big factories are built, making tie-dye with machines. But I am not giving up, I want to keep doing what I do; I want more people to see the beautiful designs we have. I also try to add modern elements to the tie-dye designs.”
