Wood Statue Root Carving, 'God of Longevity'
This root sculpture features one of the Chinese ancient deities “God of Longevity” also know as Shou Xing or Shou Star in Chinese. The artist portrays the deity following the traditional description of him, enormous bald head, bushy eyebrows, long beard, and a warm smile. *Each item is unique, actual item might look different from the picture.

About the artist, Chen Xi
“I have always been looking for ways to create unique art. Woodcarving is a family business. We have been making decorated wood window frames for generations. But I always wanted to be more creative. “ Chen Xi explains,” After I saw a table made from a old tree root, I fell in love with the idea of root carving. Using dead tree roots, each piece is unique. I can incorporate the original shape and texture of the tree roots into the sculpture. The pine tree root also gives the sculpture a natural wax-like finish, along with the nice fresh smell.”
