Hand carved out of a single piece of wood. The wooden totem plaques of dragons in clouds are used to be placed on both sides of the doorway to pray for the kids to get good grades in school. In ancient China, schools were very strict. Students had to go through many levels of tests to get a respectable job and become a government official.
The Emperors wrote the highest level of test. The top 3 students would be guaranteed to have a high level position in the government. The Emperors were said to be dragon’s sons. So people place the dragons on the sides of their door to pray for their children’s future.
